This board has been constituted with the objective of providing social security to the registered unorganized workers of Gujarat State, carrying out various activities of economic, social, educational and cultural development and promoting such activities run by the Government and Semi-Government organizations so that these workers can take advantage of them. In order to fulfill this objective, the Board aims to carry out the following activities for the unorganized workers:
1.Recommending the State Government to formulate schemes suitable to various categories of unorganized sector workers.
2.To advise the State Government on administrative questions arising during the implementation of this Act.
3.To monitor the social welfare schemes implemented by the State Government for the unorganized workers.
4.To review the record keeping activities done at the district level.
5.Reviewing the progress of registration of unorganized workers and issuing cards to them.
6.To review the expenditure incurred from the fund for various schemes.
To perform such other functions as may be assigned to the Board by the State Government from time to time.
